WHO WE ARE
|
WOOLSTON & BURSLEDON FOLK CLUB
Meeting every Sunday from 7:30pm to 10:45pm
Woolston & Bursledon Folk Club started life as Woolston Folk Club on Sunday 19th October 1986, meeting at the New Bridge Inn and then The Obelisk in Woolston. When the function room was needed for accommodation, we found ourselves homeless, so moved on to The Prince Consort in Netley Abbey where we had several happy years as the Woolston & Netley Folk Club until our amiable hosts moved on. After a brief sojourn at the Mill House, again in Netley Abbey, a change of pub management resulted in us moving again, in January 2006, to our current venue, the Bursledon Village Hall, Long Lane, Bursledon, Southampton. SO31 8BZ.
We are a group of like-minded people who meet weekly to share our love of live acoustic music. The club has a membership but is open to members and non-members alike. All are welcome to come and join us. Although we are a folk club, we do not restrict ourselves to purely traditional or contemporary folk music. Blues, Country, Music Hall and sometimes even 60s pop may be heard! Indeed, any good acoustic music. With over a thousand meetings under our belt, we have recently celebrated our 22nd birthday on 19th October 2008 with guests, Crouch, Jeffries & Kennard and go forward into our 23rd year....
